Scott's Affordable Car Care & Fast Lube

Had my running 2006 Kia with 138K miles towed into Scott's Affordable Care Care to diagnois the flashing check engine light. They found the timing chain had jumped its teeth. They recommended a timing chain replacement. They required I pay them $1750 upfront before they would begin the tear down with the rest due upon completion. They tore my Kia down and found the actuators/phasers would also need to be replaced. Kia however, had since updated that phaser and the chain as this particular Kia is notorious for timing chain issues. That now required the camshafts to be replaced, as Kia had updated the camshafts to fit the updated phasers. Scotts then couldn't locate the updated…

I’m not sure why I never left a review before, but this place definitely deserves 5 stars! I came here years ago because a friend recommended it to me. It’s about a 30-40 min drive from my house, but I always felt like it was worth the drive because of how friendly and accommodating the staff is. A couple of years ago, I moved away from the Sacramento area and just recently moved back. I needed an oil change and decided to come back here again. Nothing has changed/ they still provide excellent services! Very speedy and efficient.

My brother brought his car here 10 days ago. There has been poor communication and excuses on the deadline of completion. Such as, "Oh, your parts never came in. It will be another few days." Having been a service writer who has worked at other repair shops for many years, it's disappointing to see how my brother has been treated. When you order parts, you're given a specific time frame. Always helpful and very kind. The electronic display in my car wouldn't turn on after an unrelated repair, and Chris (I think) took the time after I left to do research and offer to check the fuse. I appreciate how I'm always seeing familiar faces here, and they always treat me with respect. Mechanics can be intimidating if you're a woman, but I never feel that way here.
